Gerhard Frömel

Gerhard Frömel (* 1941 in Grieskirchen ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist , sculptor , object artist and university professor .

Live and act

After completing an apprenticeship as a sign painter from 1955 to 1959 and working for a few years, Frömel studied commercial graphics with Erich Buchegger at the Linz Art School from 1965 to 1969 . From 1975 to 2003 he taught at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz . Since 1975 he has dealt with constructive / conceptual art. The artist has been a member of the MAERZ artists' association since 1982 . He lives in Wolfsegg am Hausruck and in Hallein-Rehhof .

Works

His works are part of the concrete art that is reduced to a few essential forms and contents. The artistic path leads from the image to the object and the room installation. The artist expresses his search for a new quality of life through encounter. The objects and room installations in particular involve the viewer to a large extent in this search and require their concentration. His works are in numerous public collections.
