Gerhard Gulewicz

Gerhard Gulewicz (born May 21, 1967 in Bad Ischl , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian extreme athlete and motivational speaker .

In 1988 Gulewicz became Upper Austrian National Champion and Austrian National Champion in powerlifting .

In 2000 Gulewicz began mountain biking and was able to celebrate successes as an extreme endurance athlete in the following years.

In 2014 his career became part of the documentary Attention - A Life in Extremes by director Sascha Köllnreitner .

Sporting successes

  • 2002: Vice World Champion in 24-hour mountain bike in Canada
  • 2004: 6th place at the Crocodile Trophy in Australia
  • 2005: World champion in 24-hour mountain bike in Eschlikon (Switzerland)
  • 2005: Vice European champion in 24-hour mountain biking in Gosau (Austria)
  • 2006: 7th place at the Race Across America (RAAM) in the USA
  • 2007: World record for the fastest crossing of Australia from Perth to Sydney over 4,300 kilometers in 7 days, 8 hours and 49 minutes
  • 2007: 3rd place at the Race Across America
  • 2008: Vice world champion in 24-hour mountain biking in Ruhpolding (Germany)
  • 2009 and 2010: 2nd place at the Race Across America
  • 2012: 3rd place at the Race Across America
