from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerhard Köhler (born May 30, 1937 ) is a doctor of law and a former German civil servant at the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Bonn . From 1990 to 1993 he was vice president of the Federal Criminal Police Office and later Secretary in the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media . As such he was on the board of trustees of the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany GmbH .

In his tenure at the BKA fell GSG-9 use in bath small one , during which the RAF - terrorist Wolfgang Grams and a GSG-9 - official were shot. Since the President of the BKA was on vacation at the time of the incidents, Köhler was initially primarily responsible. After the authorities were accused of failing to investigate, Köhler was released from his job on September 3, 1993 and transferred to the Federal Ministry of the Interior. It is possible that reports in early 1993 about deficiencies in the drug search in Latin America contributed to Köhler's resignation.

Köhler was married to the secondary school teacher Gertrud Köhler, with whom he has two daughters.
