Gerhard Krieger

Gerhard Krieger (born February 17, 1951 in Mönchengladbach ; † December 30, 2018 in Brühl ) was a German theologian and philosopher.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1970, he began studying Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Bonn . In 1976 he obtained his diploma in theology at the Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn, and in 1982 his doctorate in philosophy. The topic of his dissertation was The Concept of Practical Reason in Buridanus . From 1972 to 1978 he also studied social sciences, also at the University of Bonn. From September 1983 to July 1984 he was a consultant at the Central Office for Education of the German Bishops' Conference in Bonn . Subsequently, from 1984 to 1990, he was a university assistant at the Philosophical Department B at the University of Bonn. In 1991 he completed his habilitation in philosophy at the Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn with the subject of world domination instead of world view. The principle of change in theory as a principle of transformation in metaphysics . From 1990 to 1991 Krieger was a research associate at the Philosophical Seminar Department B of the University of Bonn in the context of the edition of the theoremata of Johannes Duns Scotus sponsored by the German Research Foundation . In the winter semester 1991/92 he was a visiting professor at the Charles University in Prague . From the 1992 summer semester to the 1993 summer semester, he was also given a teaching position for social and cultural studies at the University of Osnabrück .

Since April 1, 1994, he held the chair for Philosophy I at the Trier Theological Faculty . On April 27, 1999, he was also appointed visiting professor at the University of Trier . He was president of the Medievalist Association .
