Gerhard Lamers
Gerhard Lamers (born November 11, 1871 in Kleve , † November 1964 in Cincinnati ) was a German church painter who emigrated to the USA in 1928 .
Life
At the age of 14, Gerhard Lamers became a student and later an employee of Friedrich Stummel in Kevelaer . In 1906 he moved to Münster with his wife and three children . He designed murals in over 100 churches. One of his most important works is the completely preserved painting of the St. Antonius Church in Papenburg from 1911/1912. In 1928 Lamers emigrated to Cincinnati. There, too, he worked as a church painter, especially for German-speaking communities in Ohio .
