At the Institute for Phytomedicine on the subject of "On the choice of host for Myzus persicae". In long-term projects, he continued to focus primarily on research in the field.

  • 1976–2011: Investigation of the population dynamics of honeydew producers important to the bee economy on fir, spruce and deciduous trees
  • 1987–2010: Establishment and management of a costume reporting service in Baden-Württemberg to monitor and forecast forest and fir costumes
  • 1982–2011: Investigations into the development of the infestation of the Varroa destructor in the bee colony, determination of damage thresholds (summer, autumn, winter) and their repeated examination, development and review of the litter diagnosis to assess the degree of infestation, development of methods of control of the varroa mite with formic acid , oxalic acid and lactic acid ; Development of concepts for the "integrated varroa control" in colony management up to practical readiness ("late summer care in four steps", " share and treat ")
  • 1984–2011: Studies on the development of bee colonies, influence of the environment (costume, climate, weather, colony management, agriculture) on colony development

The Liebig dispenser for a uniform and bee-friendly formic acid treatment of bee colonies to combat the Varroa mite bears his name.
