Gerhard Rödding (born February 18, 1933 in Oestrich , today a district of Iserlohn ) is a German Protestant theologian and North Rhine-Westphalian politician ( CDU ). From 1980 to 1987 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and work

Gerhard Rödding grew up in Oestrich. He graduated from high school in 1953 with an Abitur. He then studied theology in Marburg , Göttingen and Münster . He passed the first theological exam in 1957 and the second in 1960. With the dissertation The problem of being in the doctrine of creation of Karl Barth , he was 1,961 Evangelical Theology at the Faculty of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster Dr. theol. PhD . From 1960 to 1967 worked Rödding as pastor and was then from 1967 to 1980 the country Churches in Landeskirchenamt Bielefeld and school department head of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia .

Rödding presented several publications on Protestant hymns . He mainly deals intensively with the person and work of Paul Gerhardt . He wrote the standard works Paul Gerhardt (1981) and Why should I be grieving about the important hymn poet . Paul Gerhardt - Life and Poetry in Dark Times (2006). His more theoretical books, such as Dogmatik im Grundriß (1974), were repeatedly accompanied by practical writings for Christian education and Christian life. Rödding has been a member of the CDU since 1966. From 1969 to 1973 he was district chairman of the CDU Bielefeld and then deputy district chairman. Public offices

Rödding worked from 1969 to 1972 as honorary mayor of the Altenhagen community ( Bielefeld district , today part of the Heepen district of the city of Bielefeld). He was state chairman of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe. Rödding, spokesman for media policy for the CDU parliamentary group for many years, sat on the broadcasting council of WDR from 1975 to 1987 . Then he was the first deputy director of the newly founded State Broadcasting Corporation of North Rhine-Westphalia (LfR) in Düsseldorf until 1999 and chairman of the Association for the Introduction of Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB). He headed the first board of trustees of the North Rhine-Westphalia Singers Association , which began its voluntary work in the mid-1990s. For the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald (SDW) he is also involved as chairman of the NRW district association Bielefeld / Gütersloh in order to familiarize schoolchildren with the forest ecosystem and its sustainable forestry use through the forest youth games .
