Gerhard Schmidinger

Gerhard Schmidinger (born August 17, 1943 in Linz ) is an Austrian composer .

Life

After completing his schooling at Wilhering Abbey High School , where he was taught music and singing by Balduin Sulzer , he studied at the Prayner Conservatory for Music and Dramatic Art in Vienna with Karl Etti and medicine , philosophy , art history and theater studies at the University of Vienna with Heinz Kindermann and Margret Dietrich . In 1975 he worked with Günter Kahowez . From 1975 to 1981 Schmidinger was a music teacher in Rohrbach and Bad Leonfelden . Schmidinger has lived as a freelance composer in Vorderweissenbach since 2005 .

His work, which mainly includes chamber music compositions as well as works for music theater and other vocal music , was influenced by Robert Fludd and Roman Haubenstock-Ramati and is based on the ancient harmony of the spheres and the correspondence between microcosm and macrocosm . He was also inspired by Brigitte Johanna Wasmeyer's color compositions and Franz Bardon's writings .
