Gerhard Schoeller

Gerhard Georg Schoeller (born June 26, 1886 in Neu Kaliss ; † October 24, 1970 ) was a German paper manufacturer.

Life

Gerhard Schoeller was born as the son of the Osnabrück paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller . After graduating from the Osnabrück Ratsgymnasium, he studied at the universities of Munich and Freiburg and the TH Darmstadt . In Freiburg he became a member of the Corps Hasso-Borussia in 1906 . In 1913 he became co-owner and commercial director of the Felix Schoeller junior company, a fine paper factory in Burg Gretsch near Osnabrück, which he expanded into an international company. After the Second World War, he was able to obtain the necessary permits and raw material allocations from the British occupation authorities in August 1945 in order to be able to resume operations.

In the First World War, Schoeller first took part as a front-line officer and later as head of the paper section of the War Resources Department of the War Ministry. In the inter-war period he was the 2nd deputy president of the Association of German Paper Manufacturers. V. and was a member of the governing bodies of other industry-specific trade associations. In 1939 he resigned from his office. After the Second World War he was President of the Osnabrück Chamber of Commerce and Industry until 1950 .

Schoeller was a sponsor of the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra and other musical institutions in Osnabrück.
