Gerhard Voigt (forensic doctor)

Gerhard Erich Voigt (* 7. March 1922 in Auerbach , Germany ; † 14. May 2008 in Lund , Sweden ) was a German -schwedischer forensic pathologist .

Voigt studied medicine in Berlin and took his exam there in February 1945. He worked as an assistant doctor in the forensic medicine department at the University of Jena from 1945 to 1951, where he became a professor. In 1954 he fled the GDR to West Germany, where he lived in Düsseldorf . In 1955 he emigrated to Sweden, where he received an assistant position at the state institution for forensic medicine ( Statens rättslakarstation ) in Lund . In 1965 he received a professorship at the Faculty of Forensic Medicine at Lund University and headed the forensic medicine facility until his retirement in 1988.

Voigt was editor and author for the Swedish National Cyclopedin in Medicine and Odontology .
