Gerhard Wendzinski

Gerhard Wendzinski (born May 31, 1935 in Dortmund ) is a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending primary school, he learned the electrical installation trade and worked as an electrician from 1953 to 1961 . After obtaining the technical college entrance qualification in the second educational path, he studied at the state engineering school for mechanical engineering in Iserlohn with the degree of engineer (grad.) And was employed as a physics engineer in the iron and steel industry until 1978.

Wendzinski has been a member of the SPD since 1955. He is active in numerous party committees, such as B. as a member of the state executive committee of the SPD from 1979 to 1989. Since 1953 he has been a member of IG Metall .

Wendzinski's wife Marianne was Dortmund's first mayor from 1989 to 2009 .

In October 2017 it became known that Wendzinski is withdrawing from the last of his previously diverse honorary posts.

He was a member of the Dortmund City Council from 1964 to 1970. From 1967 to 1970 he was a member of the landscape assembly of the regional association Westphalia-Lippe .

From July 26, 1970 to May 31, 1995, Wendzinski was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in constituencies 113 Dortmund V and 132 Dortmund III.

Honors

Wendzinski was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on May 30, 2003 .
