Gerhard Zimmermann , also Gerd Zimmermann (born September 23, 1942 in Munich ) is a former German speed skater .
Between 1966 and 1972 Zimmermann set a total of 36 German records. In 1964, 1968 and 1972 he competed at the Olympic Winter Games for the Federal Republic of Germany and the German team on all competition routes between 500 and 10,000 meters. His best placings were 7th place over 10,000 meters (16: 22.5 min) at the 1964 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck and 8th place over 10,000 meters (15: 43.92 min) at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan . After his active time as an athlete, Zimmermann was Chairman of the German Speed Skating Association (DESG) from 1984 to 2005 and is currently (April 2009) ISU Vice-President.
