Gerhart Kreft

Gerhart Kreft (born August 31, 1939 in Paderborn ) was a judge at the Federal Court of Justice from 1988 to 2004 .

Act

After completing his legal training, Kreft initially worked as a research assistant at the Ruhr University in Bochum before he joined the judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1970 .

After working as a judge at the Bonn Regional Court and various local courts , Kreft was a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court from 1973 to 1975 . In 1979 he was appointed judge at the Cologne Higher Regional Court.

Federal judge was Kreft in 1988. Since then, he belonged to the particular for the insolvency law competent IX. Civil Senate of the Federal Court of Justice , since 2000 as its chairman. From 2003 until his retirement on August 31, 2004, he was also chairman of the IX. Civil Senate IXa Civil Senate formed as an auxiliary senate .

After his retirement, Kreft worked as ombudsman for the Association of German Banks from 2004 to 2016 .

Up to its 7th edition, Kreft was the editor of the Heidelberg Commentary on the Insolvency Code .
