Gerhart Rieber

Gerhart Rieber (born September 28, 1930 in Mönsheim ; † June 8, 2005 in Jestetten ) was a German sculptor and wood turner from Jestetten.

biography

Rieber finished his training as a wood turner in 1953, and passed his master craftsman examination in 1955 in Bielefeld at the master school for the design trade in the class of Professor Arnold Rickert . Years of professional experience followed, including with the Jestetter stone and wood sculptor Siegfried Fricker . In 1970 he graduated as a wood sculptor in Freiburg. His own workshop in Jestetten is continued today by his son Eberhard, also a trained master wood carver.

Works of art

The pulpit in the Protestant St. Mark's Church in Jestetten is best known by Rieber, which depicts the parable of the sower from the Gospel of Matthew in five pictures .

The organ prospectus of the Catholic Church of St. Valentin in Lottstetten also comes from his workshop. In 1970 reliefs were created for the stairwell in the Matthias Claudius House in Waldshut-Tiengen . It is the interpretation of a song by the namesake for the old people's home.

Some of the church furnishings in the Protestant Paulus Church in Villingen-Schwenningen come from a later period. Works by Rieber can also be found in the Berneuchener Haus Kloster Kirchberg near Sulz am Neckar. So far there is no catalog of Rieber's work.
