Gerlinde Neumann

Gerlinde Neumann (born September 5, 1938 in Neunkirchen , † May 11, 2008 in Neunkirchen) was a German politician ( SPD ).

After attending elementary school (1945–1952) and commercial school (1952/1953), Neumann trained as a dental assistant and worked in this profession until 1958. Then she worked as a commercial clerk at Eisenwerk Neunkirchen until 1976. From 1979 to 1984 she was employed by IG Metall , after which she worked again as a dental assistant until 1990.

Neumann had been a member of the SPD since 1974 and held various functions in her party, including being a board member and deputy chairwoman of the Furpach local association. Neumann also campaigned for the working group of social democratic women . She was also active in trade unions: she was a member of IG Metall from 1960 to 1986, where she took on various tasks at the district level. From 1986 she belonged to the ÖTV .

From 1979 to 1989 Neumann was a local council member in Furpach / Ludwigsthal / Kohlhof. In 1990 she was elected to the state parliament of Saarland and belonged to it for two legislative terms. In the 1999 election she did not run again.

She volunteered for the Pro-Familia-Verein in Neunkirchen , of which she was chairman for several years; she was also a member of the Workers' Welfare Association , the Furpach Heimatverein, the Neunkirchen Association of Single Mothers and Fathers and the Neunkirchen town twinning association.
