German Belt

The so-called German Belt (“Deutscher Gürtel”) describes areas of land in the USA that were increasingly populated by German emigrants in the 19th century. Most of the time, some states of the American Midwest are grouped together under the term , especially Wisconsin with foothills in Michigan , Ohio , Indiana , Illinois , Minnesota , Iowa , North Dakota , South Dakota , Nebraska and Missouri . A total of 18 states belong to this region.
