The German Council of Shopping Centers , GCSC for short, is a nationwide interest group for actors in the retail real estate industry.

The association was founded in 1993 and, according to its own information, had more than 750 members in 2015. Among them are primarily companies and managers from the shopping center industry. The head office is in Ludwigsburg , Baden-Württemberg . The German German Council of Shopping Centers is affiliated with the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and works with it on an international level. The GCSC also accompanies and initiates research projects on the future of the retail real estate industry.

Under the name “Association of German Commercial Real Estate and Shopping Centers (GCSC) eV”, the association was registered as an association at the Düsseldorf District Court (association registration number 7684).

Events

The GCSC organizes a series of events for representatives of the commercial real estate industry. Discussion forums on topics such as architecture, center management, marketing, law, consulting and leasing take place in various German cities throughout the year. Every year in September, the members meet in Berlin for the “German Council Congress”, which lasts several days and discusses developments in the industry. In addition, the GCSC is organizing the German Shopping Center Forum in Düsseldorf together with the EHI Retail Institute .

European innovation award

Since 2013, the German Council of Shopping Centers has been awarding the European Innovation Prize in the areas of city center, retail and young journalists. A jury will decide who will be awarded the prizes. The award ceremony takes place every January in Frankfurt am Main .

GCSC library

In 2004 the association set up a library in the economics faculty of Leipzig University . According to the GCSC, this is the "nationwide most extensive specialist library on the subject of retail real estate". The inventory covers topics related to purchasing and trade , for example books on tenancy law , but also customer behavior and internet trading are themed.

GCSC magazine

The German Council Magazin appears four times a year. According to the publisher, around 13,000 copies are printed and distributed nationwide.
