German Anatoljewitsch Skurygin ( Russian Герман Анатольевич Скурыгин ; born September 15, 1963 in Wutno , Udmurtia , † November 28, 2008 in Izhevsk ) was a Russian athlete whose specialty was walking .
Sporting successes
Skurygin won the silver medal at the 2003 World Athletics Championships in the 50 km walk in a national record time of 3:36:42 h. Skurygin only had to admit defeat to the world record (3:36:03 h) from Poland Robert Korzeniowski .
Doping result
Skurygin was the first to cross the finish line over 50 kilometers at the 1999 World Athletics Championships , but was subsequently convicted of doping with gonadotropin and banned for two years. The title was awarded to Ivano Brugnetti .
