Gernot Bubenik
Gernot Bubenik (* 1942 in Troppau ) is a visual artist. He is active in painting, screen printing and etching, objects on the subject of art and science. Bubenik became famous in the 1960s with his graphic display boards. In 1967 he received the German Critics' Prize and in 1968 the Prize of the Tokyo Graphic Biennale.
Life
Bubenik has been making photo-realistic painting in lacquer on metal since 1969 with the spray gun as a painting tool (later called " airbrush "). He has been making body prints, color actions and light trails since 1980. "Finger butterflies", "hand butterflies", "body butterflies": the "butterfly person" and computer graphics at the same time.
From 1971 to 1973 he taught painting at the Berlin School of Fine Arts . In 1986 he received a work exhibition in the Staatliche Kunsthalle Berlin .
Since 1986 he has had a workshop for ecology with the worm composter for interiors and a workshop for color campaigns with compostable color masses. Between 1991 and 1995 he had a teaching position for experimental screen printing at the Berlin School of Fine Arts. This led to the development of a non-toxic, compostable screen printing ink and a working technique suitable for children for manual screen printing .
From 1992 to 2005 he worked on the realization of the cultural project “Art and Ecology” in cooperation with the Kreuzberg cultural office, youth support in the district, children's homes, youth leisure facilities and schools with the help of a total of around 3000 children and young people. Since 1993 he has had exhibitions and workshops in Lagos (Nigeria: “Spirit of hand”), Brazil (“arte e ecologia”, Ecomuso Foz do Iguaçu) and Germany.
In 2006 the school project “Color Circus”, supervised by Bubenik, won the KINDER ZUM OLYMP competition! the cultural foundation of the federal states the prize in the category film and new media in elementary schools.
