Gernot Munster
Gernot Münster (born October 11, 1952 in Elmshorn ) is a German theoretical physicist who deals with lattice scale theories .
Life
Münster studied physics at the University of Kiel from 1973 and at the University of Hamburg from 1976 , where he wrote his diploma thesis with Harry Lehmann in 1978 and obtained his doctorate in 1980 with Gerhard Mack . Since 1990 he has been a professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and director of the Institute for Theoretical Physics. From 2006 to 2011 he was Chairman of the Scientific Council of the John von Neumann Institute for Computing. Among other things, he deals with supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories , quantum chromodynamics on the lattice and statistical field theory . For his achievements as a lecturer at the University of Münster, he was the first to receive the Physics Teaching Prize in 2013.
