Gernot Moegelin (born October 9, 1943 in Waltershausen , Thuringia ) is a German real estate entrepreneur who also works as an art sponsor. He worked at the Institute for Corporate Management at the Free University of Berlin and has been a managing partner of the KapHag Group in Berlin since 1982.

Life

After graduating from high school and doing an internship at AEG Aktiengesellschaft from 1964 to 1968, Moegelin studied business administration and economics as well as law at the Free University of Berlin and completed his studies with a diploma in business administration ( Dipl.-Kfm. ).

From 1969 to 1974 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Corporate Management, specializing in auditing at the Free University of Berlin. At the same time, he worked as an authorized signatory in his father's company, Eberhard Moegelin KG Berlin / Cologne, and was active in university politics (including in the Academic Senate of the FU). He obtained his doctorate in 1972 at the Institute for Auditing. rer. pole. with Friedrich Wilhelm Selchert. In 1974 he was appointed assistant professor for business administration. He worked in close connection with business practice. In 1978 he left the university and became a board member of Finanz und Handels AG Berlin, the parent company of today's KapHag group of companies in Berlin, which he co-founded in 1982 and in which he is a managing partner to this day.

The senior partner of this group was Jochen Severin, film producer ("Die Brücke"), whom Moegelin also advised on the founding and management of "Severin & Siedler Verlag" (now Siedler Verlag / Bertelsmann) together with Wolf Jobst Siedler . In his entrepreneurial activity Moegelin has developed and implemented a large number of real estate projects within the KapHag group of companies, some with well-known architects (see projects).

The “Kant Dreieck” project in Berlin, designed by the architect Josef Paul Kleihues , for which Moegelin was responsible as the client with his corporate partner, received the BDA Berlin Architecture Prize in 1994.

  • Moegelin was entrusted by will of the sculptor Waldemar Grzimek with the administration of the artistic estate and the exercise of copyrights for 20 years (1985-2005). Moegelin is active as a patron in the arts and music sector and is known or friends with high-ranking artists. So he has z. For example, together with his business partner, the State of Berlin / Berlinische Galerie donated the large bronze sculpture by Markus Lüpertz, “Fallen Warrior”, which is set up opposite the Theater des Westens in Berlin and a. In the era of Götz Friedrich, he sponsored two Wagner operas at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as the establishment of the Götz Friedrich Prize. Private life

Moegelin lives today in Berlin and on the island of Rügen . He is married to the artist Marleen Moegelin and has two children. In addition to his work, he is interested in the fine arts and music.
