Gerold Klemke

Gerold Klemke (born December 5, 1938 - † February 28, 2014 ) was a German local politician . From 1981 to 1991 he was honorary mayor of the city of Hildesheim .

Life and political career

Klemke was a member of the district council of the Hildesheim district from 1974 to 1977 . On November 1, 1981 he was elected to the council of the city of Hildesheim and belonged to this and there the committee for the Roman and Pelizaeus Museum until October 31, 1996. From November 2, 1981 to November 3, 1991, he was Lord Mayor, and for a time also Chairman of the Council . From 2006 to 2011 he was again a member of the district council.

In addition, Klemke was a delegate in the landscape of the former Principality of Hildesheim and a member of the board of trustees of the Friedrich Weinhagen Foundation .

Furthermore, Klemke was a member of the KKV for more than 50 years and from 2004 to 2011 diocesan chairman of the KKV Hildesheim as well as a founding member of the Lions Club Hildesheim-Rose.

Klemke was Catholic , married and the father of three children. His grave is in the Godehardi cemetery in Hildesheim.

Honors

In 1993, Klemke received the Ring of Honor of the City of Hildesheim for his 15-year council membership. He donated this to the city ​​museum in 2006 .

On November 14, 2013, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from his successor in office, Kurt Machens .
