Gerold Wächter

Gerold Wächter (born February 15, 1906 in Rastede , † September 10, 1992 in Nordenham ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from the upper secondary school, Wächter began studying agriculture, which he completed with an examination to become a qualified farmer. He then completed practical training at home and abroad. Since 1932 he worked as a self-employed farmer. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .

Wächter worked as a farmer again after the end of the war. In 1955 he became a member of the Advisory Board of the Federal Commissioner for the Lower Saxony Coastal Plan and a member of the board of the Northwest Economic Policy Working Group.

Act

Wächter was elected to the district council of the Wesermarsch district in 1946. From 1945 to 1947 he was mayor of the Abbehausen community . In 1946/47 he was first deputy district administrator and then from 1948 to 1956 district administrator of the Wesermarsch district. From 1947 to 1951 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1969. In both electoral terms he entered parliament via the Lower Saxony state list.
