Gerrit Engelke Prize
The Gerrit Engelke Prize of the City of Hanover was a literary prize awarded since 1979 , which was intended to keep the memory of the poet Gerrit Engelke alive.
The award, which was endowed with DM 15,000 or EUR 10,500, honored contemporary German-speaking writers. It was awarded every two years. As of 2007, the City of Hanover decided to stop awarding the Gerrit Engelke Prize and the Kurt Morawietz Prize . Instead, the Hölty Prize for Poetry has been awarded by the state capital and the Sparkasse Hannover every two years since 2008 .
