Kerstin Hensel
Kerstin Hensel (born May 29, 1961 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German writer .
Professional background
Hensel is a trained nurse . From 1983 to 1985 she studied at the " Johannes R. Becher " literature institute in Leipzig and then worked at the theater. Since 1988 she has been teaching at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art in Berlin . There she has been working as a professor for German language since 2001.
Hensel has been a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts since 2005 and was deputy senator for literature from 2014 to 2017. In 2012, Hensel was elected to the Berlin Academy of the Arts , where she has been Vice Director of the Literature Section since 2015. There she works as a poetics professor. She is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
