Gerry Peñalosa (born August 7, 1972 in San Carlos ) is a former Filipino boxer in the bantam and super flyweight . He was trained by Elbing Penalosa and Freddie Roach .

Professional career

In 1989 Peñalosa began his professional career. On February 20, 1997 he boxed in the super flyweight against Hiroshi Kawashima for the world championship title of the association WBC and won by split judge decision. He defended this belt three times and lost it to In-Joo Cho on points in August of the following year .

On August 11, 2007, he won the WBO bantamweight championship when he defeated Jhonny González by classic knockout . In April 2008 he defended this title and lost it on April 25, 2009 against Juan Manuel López by giving up.

In 2010 Peñalosa ended his career after 55 wins and 8 losses.
