Gert-Johannes Hagemann (born January 27, 1958 in Teublitz , Bavaria ) is a major general in the Bundeswehr and has been deputy commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps headquarters in Lille , France, since October 1, 2016 .

Life

On January 1, 1978, Hagemann joined the Bundeswehr. Hagemann completed his training as an officer candidate at Fernspähkompanie 200 in Weingarten and the paratrooper battalion 261 in Lebach. This was followed by studying economics and organizational sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, which he graduated in early 1983.

He then worked in various functions, including as a company commander and S2 officer , in the Jägerbataillon 66 in Wentorf near Hamburg. After the general staff training at the command academy , which he graduated in 1992, he was a G4 officer of the tank brigade 18 until 1994 . After a one-year Belgian general staff training at the Institute Royale Superieur de Défense , he was secretary of the consilium of the command academy of the Bundeswehr. From 1997 to 1999 he commanded the Jäger Battalion 1 in Berlin .

He then worked as a consultant in the Federal Ministry of Defense, first in the military policy and arms control department within the command staff of the armed forces , then in the division of Bundeswehr deployments in Europe and Africa within the planning staff . From 2004 to 2007 he was a liaison officer at the Center de Planification et de Conduite des Opérations in Paris, the command for national and global military operations in the French Ministry of Defense. From 2007 he was head of the European Security Policy and Africa department in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense. From December 2010 on he was regional commander of NATO for the Training Mission-Afghanistan in Mazār-i Sharif .

From July 1, 2011 to July 18, 2013, Hagemann was the twelfth commander of the Franco-German Brigade in Müllheim .

From April 26, 2013 to September 16, 2016 he was commander of the infantry school and the infantry training center in Hammelburg and general of the infantry before handing this post over to Brigadier General Andreas Hannemann .

On October 1, 2016, he succeeds Major General Andreas Berg as Deputy Commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps Headquarters in Lille / France .
