Gert-Peter Reichert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gert-Peter Reichert (born June 22, 1955 in Brunsbüttel , † July 31, 2001 in Altea ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Reichert, who initially worked for the ship reporting service in Brunsbüttel, received his first introduction to etching technology from Jens Rusch. Reichert was a co-founder of the Dithmarschen artists' association and the Brunsbüttel cultural ring. In 1980 he gave up his profession to begin training in painting and graphics with Eberhard Schlotter in Altea / Alicante (Spain). The contact came about through Jens Rusch, who trained there in the workshops of the German artist.

Since 1984 Reichert worked as a freelance painter and graphic artist. In 1984/85 he lived in Essen , after which he moved to Wienhausen near Celle. In 1989 he received an Arno Schmidt grant for the Mühlenhof Cordingen. In 1996 he moved to Brieselang near Berlin. From 1996 to 1999 he taught at the Havelland Music and Art School, Nauen. Since 2000 he has stayed in Altea / Alicante, where he died on July 31, 2001.

Artistic work

Reichert's work, especially the graphic work, reflect the profound training in Eberhard Schlotter's workshop. Reichert's etchings testify to his extensive repertoire (drypoint, mezzotint, vernis mou and aquatint etching) and his interest in experiment (chemical burns). He mixed materials and techniques (colored etchings, drawings and watercolor, painting and drawing, collages, etc.). The majority of his work is based on reality, deforms it, questions its appearance. Author portraits and individual works, as well as portfolios of their works, demonstrate Reicher's great interest in literary topics. Many of his still lifes and landscapes expand the purely pictorial character, becoming metaphors for inner sensitivities.
