Gert Rüdiger Strobl (born January 7, 1941 in Prague ) is a German physicist and university professor .

Career

Strobl graduated from the Schelztor-Gymnasium in Esslingen am Neckar in 1960 . He then studied physics at the Technical University of Stuttgart , where he received his diploma in 1966.

In 1970 he received his doctorate at the Institute for Physical Chemistry at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , with the thesis Experimental and theoretical investigations on the thermal behavior of N-alkane chain molecule crystals for a doctorate in natural sciences. In 1975 he completed his habilitation there for the subject of physical chemistry.

From 1978 to 1985 Gert Strobl was Professor of Physical Chemistry in the Chemistry Department at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In 1985 he was appointed to the chair for experimental polymer physics at the Physics Institute of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 2006 he retired.

His work focused on structure formation processes and the molecular dynamics in semicrystalline polymers.
