Gert Zang

Gert Zang (* 1941 in Memmingen ) is a German historian and archivist . He is known for numerous book publications on regional history.

Zang studied sociology, history, philosophy and criminology in Munich , Tübingen and Konstanz . In 1972 he received his doctorate from the University of Konstanz with a study of the social structure and socialization of the nobility in the 18th century to the Dr. phil.

From 1972 he led the project “Political and Social Conditions in the Province” as a lecturer for history at the University of Konstanz and from 1980 the project “Regional Social History / Oral History”. As part of the last-named project, not only was Dieter Schott's dissertation (now Professor of History at the University of Darmstadt ), but also Zang's study The Unstoppable Approach to the Individual. Reflections on the theoretical and practical benefits of regional and everyday history . Zang was an archivist in the cultural office of the Lake Constance district.

Zang lives on the island of Reichenau and is the manager of the Museum Reichenau . He was chairman of the SPD local association Reichenau.

In 1978 he was awarded the Wolf-Erich-Kellner Prize .
