Gertrud Seehaus
Gertrud Seehaus (born December 2, 1934 in Merzig ) is a German writer.
Life
After graduating from high school, Gertrud Seehaus first turned to acting, studied theater studies and worked in the 1960s as a dramaturge and speaker at Westdeutscher Rundfunk and as a freelancer for Deutsche Welle . Towards the end of the sixties she began studying pedagogy, worked from 1968 to 1978 as a primary and secondary school teacher in North Rhine-Westphalia and, after leaving school, was co-founder of the nationwide model experiment “Artists and Students”. She lived in Jerusalem for six years in the 1980s, traveling through Lebanon , Egypt and Jordan . In 1984 she published her debut novel Lisa and Anatol with Zsolnay-Verlag, Vienna.
Gertrud Seehaus is a member of the PEN Center Germany , the Varnhagen Society , which is dedicated to Rahel Varnhagens, and the Else Lasker Student Society . She is co-initiator of the Artikel 19 publishing house and is listed as co-editor of the novel Die satanischen Verse by Salman Rushdie in its German first edition.
Gertrud Seehaus has been married to the journalist and author Peter Finkelgruen since 1978 and lives and works as a freelance writer in Cologne .
