Gertrud Senftleben

Gertrud Senftleben (also Gertrude Senftleben ; née Zippel ; * July 30, 1906 in Berlin ; † January 11, 1996 there ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism . Like her husband Bruno Senftleben , she participated in the resistance work of the Red Shock Troop .

Life

After elementary school, Gertrud Senftleben became a travel agent . It was organized as a union in the Central Association of Employees . From 1928 she was a member of the SPD . In 1933 she helped her husband with the distribution of the Red Shock Troop. As a result, she was arrested and tortured on December 6, 1933. Like her husband, she remained in custody and was sentenced to one year in prison on May 24, 1934 in the same trial for preparation for high treason. She spent her imprisonment in Barnimstrasse women's prison . She was released three months early and given a probationary period until October 31, 1932. She worked as a packer in a large company until the end of the war. She joined the DAF and the Reichsluftschutzbund and was under surveillance by the Gestapo .

After the war she became a member of the SPD again and then joined the SED , where she was part of the district leadership in Berlin-Friedrichshain .
