Protected landscape component of the Fellebaum source region
The protected landscape component of the Fellebaum source region with 1.18 hectares is located northwest of Altenfeld in the urban area of Winterberg . The area was designated as a protected landscape component (LB) in 2008 when the Winterberg landscape plan was drawn up by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . The LB borders directly on the city limits of Schmallenberg . The LB is surrounded in the north and east by the landscape protection area Bödefelder Mulde (Winterberg) , further in the south and west by the landscape protection area Bödefelder Mulde in Schmallenberg city area.
Area description
It is a trickle of spring emerging in a seepage spring. The spring basin is lined with old beech trees, where the spring stream trickles over rock with individual quartzite blocks. In the lower part of the source stream is partially accompanied by an alder wood on the banks. In places, the source stream is surrounded by fragments of wet grassland with seepage. The source region is largely a legally protected biotope according to § 30 BNatSchG .
