Tales from the Crypt ( Engl. Tales from the Cryptkeeper for Season 1 and 2 and New Tales from the Cryptkeeper for Season 3) is an American animated television series , which, like the parallel broadcast Real series on the eponymous comic book series from the 1950s based. The primary target audience for this adaptation are children, while the Real series is a horror production for adults.

The series was canceled on December 10, 1994 after only two seasons, but continued on October 2, 1999 with a new third season entitled New Tales from the Cryptkeeper .

In 2018, Pidax Film released all three seasons with 13 episodes each on a total of three DVD boxes. In addition to the German synchronization, the English soundtrack is also included. The DVDs are equipped with a reversible cover.

action

The Goth (in the US Version Crypti or Cryptkeeper ) tells the audience one or two scary stories in each episode, which, unlike those from the Real series, always have a happy ending and a moral punchline, such as " Never judge others by their appearance "or" Who digs a pit ... "ends.

While Goth tells these stories alone in the first season, in the second season he is usually stopped by the horror witch (in the US version Old Witch ) and the Vault Keeper so that these two can tell their own stories.

In the third season, a completely different animation style was used for the series, the horror witch and the vault keeper were removed from the series again and Goth actively interfered in his stories, while he only ever called them in the first two seasons Narrator reproduced.
