Ghost stories

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The comic series Ghost Stories was published from March 1974 to March 2006 initially fortnightly, later weekly as a large volume in the Bastei Verlag . With a total of 1654 issues, the series was the most successful of Bastei-Verlag and measured by the number of issues and the length of the publication period, one of the most successful comic series in Germany.

content

As a rule, four to five short stories of 4 to 8 pages were published in each issue. In the first few years most of the stories were reprints from various American horror series, later stories by Argentinian and Spanish illustrators were added. In the 1980s, Hansrudi Wäscher designed and drawn a number of stories. Since the end of the 1990s, with a few exceptions from No. 1199 onwards, only stories from old editions have been reprinted . The trademark of the series was the sentence at the end of almost all stories: "Strange? But that's how it is written ..."

Further series

Because of the great success of the ghost stories , Bastei Verlag subsequently brought out more horror series:

The ghost stories were reprinted in various other formats or the name was used for other series:

  • Paperback as ghost stories and ghost stories special volume
  • Large volume in oversized format as Ghost Stories Special (This series was discontinued together with Ghost Stories in March 2006 with the number 232)
  • Album presented as ghost stories

The Norbert Hethke Verlag published the stories of Hansrudi Wäscher in the series Incredible Adventures from 1991 to 1993 .

Relaunch attempt

On October 13, 2008, the ghost stories started again at Tigerpress- Verlag. However, the series was discontinued in 2009 after the third issue together with all other publications of the Tigerpress Verlag due to bankruptcy.
