Getic plateau

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Getic plateau (red) is bounded by the Dâmbovița and Motru rivers and flowed through by Jiu , Olt and Argeș . To the north of the plain lie the Getischen Subcarpathians , to the south of it lies the Getische Depression .

The transition area between the Getic Subcarpathians (southern Sub-Carpathians , foothills of the Southern Carpathians ) and the Romanian Plain is referred to as the Getic Plateau , Getisches Hochland (Romanian: Podișul Getic ) or Getisches Plateau (Romanian: Piedmont Getic ) . The plateau is bounded by the Dâmbovița river to the east and the Motru river to the west.

The middle and western part of the Romanian Plain adjacent to the plateau is also known as the Getic Plain , Getic Basin (Romanian: Depresiunea Getică ) or Getic Basin .

The naming is supposed to remind of the ancient people of the Geten , who counted the Romanians among their ancestors.
