Ghorian is a district in Herat Province in western Afghanistan .
The Ghorian district is located in the west of the province. It shares a border with Iran . The district covers an area of 7385 km². The population was estimated at 85,900 in 2012. The administrative seat is the place of the same name Ghorian .
economy
A lot of opium is grown in Ghorian . Saffron cultivation has been developing rapidly since 2004 . Since then, the cultivation area for the spice has doubled every year (currently at the beginning of 2011).
