Giacinto Calandrucci
Giacinto Calandrucci (born April 20, 1646 in Palermo , † February 22, 1707 in Palermo) was an Italian Baroque painter .
Life
He probably received his artistic training in Rome from the painter and engraver Pietro del Pò (* 1610 in Palermo - 1692 in Naples), who was in Rome around 1649 and was a member of the Roman Accademia di San Luca in 1650 . Additional training followed in the workshop of Carlo Maratta (* 1625; † 1713). He later switched to the portrait and church painter Giuseppe Passeri (* 1654; † 1714), Maratta's favorite student.
In the 1680s Calandrucci completed the cycle of frescoes “The Four Seasons” in the Palazzo Lante in Rome, worked in three palaces of the Muti family and other noble houses. There were also orders for altarpieces and church frescoes. He has also made a name for himself as a draftsman of mythological and religious subjects. For the church of San Bonaventura al Palatino he created the representation of Saints Paschal, Diego and Salvatore d'Orta .
In 1705 he returned to Palermo to fresco the Oratorio di San Francesco e Lorenzo. He died in 1707, and the unfinished work was completed by the brother Domenico Calandrucci.
The brother Domenico and nephew Giovanni Battista Calandrucci are named as pupils of Ciacinto.
