Giacinto Ghia
Giacinto Ghia [ dʒaˈtʃɪnto ˈgia ] ( not [ ˈdʒia ]) (born September 18, 1887 in Turin ; † February 21, 1944 ) was an Italian coachbuilder. In 1915 he founded Carrozzeria Ghia , one of the most famous car designers.

Ghia was born the third son of an accountant. At the age of 13 he began to work for a carriage builder, later for Rapid and as a test driver for Diatto . In 1915 he broke both legs in an accident and had to give up the job.
With a partner Garaglio he founded Ghia and Garaglio and built car bodies for Diatto , Itala and SCAT. Ghia later produced for Fiat , Lancia , Chrysler , Alfa Romeo and Isotta Fraschini . During the war, Ghia produced armaments and bicycles. In 1944 the facilities were almost completely destroyed in an air raid. Ghia fell ill and died shortly afterwards.
