Giacomo Bresadola (born February 14, 1847 in Ortisè , † June 9, 1929 in Trento ) was an Italian clergyman and mycologist . Its botanical-mycological author's abbreviation is “ Bres. ".

Live and act

From 1859 onwards, Bresadola attended the “Scuola tecnica” in Rovereto , a school where future engineers were trained. In 1853 he entered the episcopal seminary in Trento and after his primacy worked as a pastor in various places in northern Italy. From 1887 to 1910 he was administrator of the cathedral chapter in Trento.

In addition to his profession as a pastor, Bresadola was a mycologist and became internationally known for his table works " Fungi Tridentini novi ..." and " Iconographia mycologica ". In these works, which he provided with self-made color drawings, the systematic descriptions of the mushroom species had a major influence on the knowledge of the mushrooms.
