Giacomo Colonna , also Jacopo , (* around 1250 in Rome , † August 14, 1318 in Avignon ) was a cardinal of the Catholic Church , he was a member of the Curia .

Giacomo Colonna, from the Roman noble family of the Colonna family, was the son of Giordano Herr von Colonna and Francesca Conti. He was the uncle of Cardinal Pietro Colonna and great-uncle of Cardinal Giovanni Colonna. He was on March 13, 1278 by Pope Nicholas III. appointed cardinal with the titular diaconia Santa Maria in Via Lata .

He was considered the most prominent supporter of the empire in the College of Cardinals and a sympathizer of the Franciscan spirituality . The imperial theologian Alexander von Roes dedicated his main writing, the Memoriale de praerogativa Romani Imperii (memorandum on the primacy of the Roman Empire, 1281) to him.
