Giacomo Lo Verde (* in the 16th century in Trapani , documented 1619–1649; † in Palermo ) was an Italian painter of baroque altarpieces in Sicily .

Life

Lo Verde was sent to Rome by his father to learn the fine arts there. However, since the father died soon afterwards and could no longer support the son financially, he returned to Sicily. In Palermo he became a student of Pietro Novelli , whose compositional style he followed. In terms of color and lines, he was influenced by Anthony van Dyck , which resulted in the occasional attribution of his pictures to the great Flemings.
