Gian Luca Chiavari

HE Count Gian Luca Chiavari (born January 11, 1935 in Rome ) is Honorary and Devotion Grand Cross Bailli in Obedienz and was from 1999 to 2014 receptor of the Common Treasury of the Order of Malta , one of the four high offices of the Order.

Life

The Counts Chiavari come from the Genoese patriciate .

Chiavari is the son of HE Count Gian Gerolamo Chiavari, the Order's ambassador to the Italian Republic , and Countess Laura Pallavicino. He is married to Countess Elena Cattaneo della Volta di Belforte, Lady of Honor and Devotion Grand Cross in obedience of the Order, and the father of 3 children.

After studying at the University of Genoa , he obtained a doctorate in economics and was Italian delegate to the International Association of Students of Economics .

He did his military service as an officer in the Genoese cavalry regiment.

Until 1994 he was a member of the board of Shell Italia and worked for the Shell Group abroad for several years.

He is vice-chairman of the Italian Aristocratic Union and former chairman of the Ligurian Aristocratic Union.

Religious life

Chiavari was accepted into the Order of Malta in 1979 and in 1983 made the Promess to Obedience and is Honor and Devotion Grand Cross Bailli in Obedience. In 1999 he was elected by the General Chapter to be the Receptor of the Common Treasury and was re-elected for five years in 2004 and on June 8, 2009.

He is Deputy President of the Pilgrimage of the Italian Tongue and a member of the Magistrate's Committee for Pilgrimages to Lourdes. Previously he was on the Council of the Italian Association and a member of the Communication Advisory Board of the Order.
