Gianfranco Soldati

Gianfranco Soldati (* 1959 in Locarno ) is a Swiss philosopher and professor of philosophy .

Life

Soldati studied at the University of Geneva with Jacques Bouveresse and Manfred Frank and graduated in 1984 with a master's thesis on La conscience de soi à la lumière de la philosophie analytique chez E. Tugendhat under the direction of Manfred Frank. From 1984 to 1985 he studied at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin) and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

1985–1986 he worked as a delegate of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (ICRC) . From 1986 to 1987 he was an assistant at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Geneva. From 1987 to 1990 he was a research assistant at the Philosophical Department of the Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen . From 1990 to 1991 he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University . In 1991 he was in Tübingen with the work Meaning and Mental Content. A study on the language-analytical critique of Husserl's early phenomenology is doing his doctorate . From 1991 to 1998 he was an assistant at the University of Tübingen. In 1998 he completed his habilitation with the thesis   The Epistemological Basis of Subjectivity . From 1998 to 1999 he was a lecturer at the University of Tübingen, and from 1999 to 2001 at the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI).

Since 2000 he has been professor of contemporary philosophy at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) .

He is a member of SOPHA (Société de Philosophie Analytique) and editor of the philosophical journal Dialectica .
