Gianni Lepre

Gianni Lepre (* 1947 in Trieste ) is an Italian theater , film and television director .

Life

Lepre attended the universities in Trieste and Trento and then devoted himself to theater and music directing and acting at various institutes. He also worked with Peter Brook , the Free Theater and the Odin Theater by Eugenio Barba . In 1972 he went to Tønsberg , Norway , where he founded the Thesbiteater and brought over forty plays to the stage with it. He made short films for foreign TV channels such as the BBC and was responsible for successful formats such as “Telefono giallo”, “Chi l'ha visto?” And “Confini” for the local RAI . He made his debut in Sweden with two films for the cinema (his first work was awarded at the Helsinki Film Festival ); in his home country he continued to work on fictional material for television.

After two further films, he continued his successful career as a television director, which lasted well into the new millennium , with eight contributions to the crime series Il commissario Corso (played by Diego Abatantuono ). After numerous mini-series, the six-part series Rossella was created in 2011 .

Lepre should not be confused with the entrepreneur of the same name, born in Naples in 1948.
