Giant's Grave (Cumbria)
Giant's Grave (also called The Portals of Eden) are a pair of stones northwest of Kirksanton in Cumbriain England . The two slender, to the Penrhos Feilw resembling menhirs ( English Standing Stones ) probably date from the Bronze Age . They stand to the west of the A509 (road) and the rolling hills that are home to the Lacra stone circles and the Black Combe Hills and Kirksanton Moos (moor). The larger stone is about 3.0 meters high while the other is about 2.5 meters high. They are about 4.5 meters apart.
A report from the late 18th century says they were originally part of an abandoned burial mound. If they are in their original position and orientation then their axis is roughly southwest-northeast. The two stones are provided with simple bowls .
The name Giant's Grave also bears the stone row Giant's Grave (Isle of Man) as well as prehistoric monuments in County Antrim ( Northern Ireland ) and the Parc Cwm Cairn near Swansea , in Wales .
