Giant's Grave (Isle of Man)

Giant's Grave

The Giant's Grave (also called Liaght ny Fawyr or The Kew ) is located in Kirk German, near Glenmooar on the Isle of Man .

The Kew is a double row of about 15 stones, the distance and size of which becomes smaller towards the east end. The stones are sloped slightly inwards so it is unlikely that this is not the original condition. In the west the formation ends abruptly at an old field border. The facility, which is often mentioned in the local literature, was examined in 1927.

The establishment of the field boundary has undoubtedly disrupted the system and it is impossible to assess whether the large stone in the wall is in situ or not. There are traces of a hill on the west side of the field border, but no other stones. The total length is 26.0 m.

At the western end of the "Steinallee" a kind of pavement and remains of a wall were discovered under the sward . The monument could be a destroyed megalithic complex of unknown type.

The Giant's Grave is also named: the Giant's Grave stone chest near St Johns on the Isle of Man, the Giant's Grave stone row (Cumbria) , ancient monuments in County Antrim (Northern Ireland) and the Parc Cwm Cairn near Swansea , in Wales . Giants' Graves are the remains of a megalithic complex on the Isle of Arran .
