Gibba

Gibba (pseudonym of Francesco Maurizio Guido , born December 18, 1924 in Alassio ; † October 7, 2018 in Albenga ) was an Italian animator .

Life

Gibba lived in Rome from 1941. He first came into contact with animation as a draftsman for two films by Luigi Giobbe . He worked u. a. with Carlo Cossio and Federico Fellini , then he worked on Antonio Rubino's Nel paese dei ranocchi . In 1946 he founded the production company “Alfa Circus Film” with Giannetto Beniscelli , with which he financed numerous works. At first he often drew for Antonio Attanasio ; about 150 short films were made , many of them commercials shot between 1947 and 1952 . Noteworthy is L'ultimo sciuscià , made in 1946 , the only neorealist animated film . In the feature film sector , he was occasionally asked for title designs and inserts . In 1971 and 1993 two full-length films were released by Gibbas, who was one of the few artists of his time who also drew for adults. At Il nano e la strega he was responsible for the design .

Gibba also designed animated sequences for television, such as Linda e il brigadiere .
