Gipsy Love was a legendary Austrian rock band that was founded in 1971, but broke up two years later due to the departure of Karl Ratzer.
history
Gipsy Love was founded in 1971 by Karl Ratzer , Kurt Hauenstein , Peter Wolf , Jano Stojka and George Dogette. In the same year the band recorded their debut album, on which Richard Schönherz can also be heard as a guest musician on the keyboards .
In 1972 Kurt Hauenstein was replaced by Harri Stojka on bass. For both, as well as for Peter Wolf, the band was the starting point of their later, extremely successful careers.
Like Karl Ratzer's earlier bands, Gispy Love is also, and above all, attested to having an enormous influence on the Austrian music scene, namely due to the influence that the band had on the careers of the musicians involved, but also due to the musical qualities of the band. According to Ludwig Adam , Gipsy Love is even said to have been one of the best musical bands in their day.
In 1973 Karl Ratzer went to America. Peter Wolf tried to continue the band, but six months later Gispy Love broke up after only two albums.
