Gideon Joffe

Gideon Joffe (born July 3, 1972 in Tel Aviv ) is a German management consultant and entrepreneur of Israeli origin. He is chairman of the Jewish community in Berlin .

Life

Joffe's ancestors come from Latvia . Numerous family members were murdered in the Holocaust . After his parents' aliyah to Israel, he was born in Tel Aviv in 1972. His family moved to Germany when he was a child.

In 1991 he passed his Abitur in Berlin . He then studied business administration and Chinese Studies at the Free University of Berlin , lived as part of a graduate scholarship in Beijing and Shanghai and was founded in 2003 in Berlin with a thesis on the origin and development of entrepreneurship in the PRC and its influence on the transformation and democratization of Dr. rer. oec. PhD . He has been working as a management consultant since 2001.

In 2006 he became chairman of the Jewish Community in Berlin for the first time. He was not re-elected in 2008 due to differences of opinion about the direction of the community and how to deal with Jews from the former Soviet Union. In 2006 he co-founded the first Sephardic post-war synagogue in Berlin. From 2010 to 2011 he was chairman of the social enterprise Treberhilfe Berlin . After Lala Süsskind's term in office , he became chairman of the Berlin Jewish Community for the second time in 2012. In 2013, the Senate temporarily stopped payments to the Berlin Jewish Community due to uncertainties about the distribution and payment of staff. It became known that Joffe himself received an annual salary of 125,000 euros.
